As I am sure that you have read on numerous web sites throughout the interweb, Soul Calibur 4 is a beast of a game. This game is absolutely phenomenal and arguably the best fighting game since the original Dreamcast Soul Calibur. One of the features that is driving the fanaticism of the game is the Create a Soul option included. The amount of customization available is sort of mind blowing and gamers across the planet are using the feature along with their creative minds to make the game (truly) their own. I have been thoroughly impressed with a lot of the custom creations that I have seen both in th game and through the various websites and message boards on the net; here is a look at some of the better creations that I have seen from various sources around the gaming community, in no particular order...
Galford from the Samurai Showdown series
Granted, this is a pretty obscure reference, but the accuracy is top notch. I was one of the people who was / is a huge fan of the Samurai Showdown series from the start and have followed the game since its inception. This recreation of Galford is pretty much spot on in terms of appearance and for that I give the creator major kudos. The color scheme and everything in this version of Galford is accurate down to his red scarf and gold highlights. Even the weapon choice for his style makes his fighting stance very similar to original Galford in the SS game. If only there was a way of adding in his canine companion.
Phoenix Wright from the Phoenix Wright series
I would never, in a million years, add Phoenix to my roster, but this creation made me bust out in laughter. As soon as I saw the business suit attire (which was obtained with the download codes included in the special editions of the game) I knew that there would be some hilarious creations coming out. I thought that I would be seeing more James Bond's than anything else and I never thought of adding Phoenix Right. Everything from the hair to the bright red tie looks perfect for this version of Capcom's lawyer. It is too bad that you cannot customize the actual moves and attacks of the game as it would have been awesome you could get him to scream "OBJECTION" every time that you countered one of your opponent's attacks.
Gutsu from the Berserk anime / video game
The Sword of Berserk was arguably my favorite game for the Sega Dreamcast but unfortunately never really caught on that much here in the states. Berserk is huge in Japan and Gutsu, the main character from the series, is pretty well known. Do yourself a favor and check out the anime stories if you are into that sort of thing as Berserk is a pretty dark and gritty series. The PS2 game is also a great game is you are into importing titles from Japan. Anyways, this is a pretty accurate recreation of Gutsu despite its flaws. The only changes that I would make, if the game would allow, would be to lengthen his cape and add a scar over his eye like the original character. This creation made a good choice on the sword that he is equipped with too. Bravo, you are making my roster (though I will be tweaking the design some).

Alucard from the Castlevania series
Now we are getting into more familiar territory. Everyone knows the Castlevania series and almost everyone knows Dracula's rebellious son Alucard. This creation is very detailed, even when it comes to the pale skin tone. The era / time of the games setting is pretty comparable to the Castlevania storyline so his inclusion almost makes sense. All of the equipment detail and coloring looks very similar to Konami's original design of the character. Choosing to give him Raphael's style fits him to a tee as well. Once you add in the silver hair and the blank eyes, you have a spot on Alucard. I will probably have to recreate this character myself, with a few little custom tweaks, and add him to my own personal SC4 roster.
Jax from the Mortal Kombat series
Simple and accurate. I have never really cared for Jax as a character since his original appearance in Mortal Kombat 2 but this is another spot on creation. There isn't really a weapon that fits his personality and story so including one would make him seem odd but at least he looks accurate. There isn't much to this one, but those who are seeking pretty much a 1 to 1 recreation need look no further.

Sephiroth from Final Fantasy 7
You have probably seen a million of these by now and the Final Fantasy universe was a no-brainer to go to for some custom characters. There are a ton of Clouds and Sephiroth's floating around out there but this Sephiroth was simple and to the point. This creation isn't over done which is a problem that most of the others versions I have seen have experienced. The shoulder plates and the overcoat look dead on and the silver hair sets the entire creation off in terms of accuracy. If only there was a way to make the blade longer to make it absolutely spot on, but I guess that this will have to do for now. I may end up adding this one to my roster as well.
Squall Lionheart from Final Fantasy 8
Squall Lionheart, gamers either loved him or hated him, as they did with the game FF8. I never cared for this edition of the classic RPG series but this creation was pretty good. The creator has done the best that they could in recreating the coat with the high collar from the original character even though it isn't spot on. Thanks to the brown gloves and the equipment / strap accessories this creation uses, the overall package more than makes up for the ground loss in the jacket If only there was a way to combine Cervantes' sword and gun to form a gunblade and make this creation complete.
Auron from Final Fantasy 10
This is one of the best creations that I have seen thus far. This creation is awesome in every way; it is spot on in terms of the replication, his character fits into the Soul Calibur universe, and he just looks completely badass. I cannot stop gushing over this version of Auron as the details are there from the intricacies of his garb to his sunglasses. The only thing that I would like to see tweaked is the sword that is equipped with the character but unfortunately there isn't a ton of leeway in that area in the game. As soon as I can get through unlocking all of the various equipment for the customization modes of the game, Auron is getting added to my game

Dr. Doom from the Marvel / Fantastic Four Universe
While he doesn't exactly into the time period or Universe, this Dr. Doom creation is incredibly accurate and pretty faithful to the standard appearance of Victor Von Doom in the Marvel universe. Every detail, from the cape and hood down to the armor looks pretty much as if he was meant to be in the game. The accuracy of this creation alone may earn it a spot on my personal roster.

Darth Malak from Knights of the Old Republic
While he isn't as famous as Darth Maul or Vader (the latter already being present in the Playstation 3 version), Darth Malak should be familiar to fans of the KOTOR series. Unfortunately, there isn't a way to truly replicate the lightsabers that the guest characters in the game use, but people have put one of Mitsurugi's additional swords to good use with its red color. While it isn't exactly a lightsaber, it looks pretty good and fits the character.

Altair from Assassin's Creed
I actually had the idea of recreating Altair when I first bought the game but a hundred other SC4 players beat me to it. Out of all of the Altair's that I have seen, this one is hands down my favorite. The accuracy and stance of the character is spot on. I go back and forth on which fighting style I want to equip Altair with, mainly between Taki and Yun Seong. Either way, this character is definitely getting added into my personal roster.

M. Bison from the Street Fighter series
This was another creation that made me laugh more than anything... mainly because of how good I thought that it actually looked. Bison is definitely an odd addition to the SC universe, but at least he looks good. The only change that I would make is to make sure that I gave him Algol's style so that he floated along the stage, like the real M. Bison. Then again, if you give him Cervantes' style, you can pretty much do his torpedo move. Decisions, decisions...

Scorpion from the Mortal Kombat series
Now we are getting to my two favorite creations thus far, along with the Auron highlighted above. The thing that I like about this Scorpion is the amount of customization put into it. This isn't an exact recreation of the Scorpion that everyone is familiar with, but you can look at it and know, without a doubt, who it is. I am praying that the skeleton head that the computer often uses in its randomly generated characters becomes available at some point to the customization options as I would love to add that to this version of Scorpion.

Sub-Zero from the Mortal Kombat series
Much like the Scorpion above, the customization in this Sub-Zero is what makes it stand out to me. Again, this isn't the Sub-Zero that we have seen in the Mortal Kombat games, but you can look at it and know that it is him. The decision to use Siegfried's Soul Edge was a great one and it looks like he is using a sword made of ice. These last two will definitely be added to me personal roster in due time.
This is just the tip of the iceberg of the creations that are floating around out there. I was really impressed with either the accuracy or the originality of these creations in particular which is why I chose to highlight them. I am giving major kudos to the creators of each of these characters and look forward to seeing what everyone else comes up with in this incredible game. So, what creations have you come up with?
